Thane City to Launch Pod Taxi Project Soon
Thane city is set to witness the launch of an innovative pod taxi project, as announced by Maharashtra’s transport minister, Pratap Sarnaik.
This eco-friendly and cost-effective transportation system aims to complement the existing Metro network, spanning 52km with 63 stations. The project, which will be launched on a PPP basis, promises affordable fares at Rs 30 per stage.
However, some residents remain skeptical, citing ongoing infrastructure issues in the city.
In addition to the pod taxi project, Sarnaik announced a ban on heavy commercial vehicles on Ghodbunder Road from 6am to midnight to alleviate traffic congestion.
The minister also emphasized the importance of tree plantation and the development of a rehabilitation center for stray dogs.
With development projects worth Rs 1,800 crore sanctioned for Thane, the city is poised for significant growth under the guidance of deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde.
